New Baby Girl!

In case you haven't received our Christmas card yet, the good word is WE ARE HAVING A BABY GIRL! She is expected to arrive on May 10th. We are so excited!

My older sister Monique is also expecting one day prior to Sunny. Here they are barely showing at 13 weeks

Here they are at 15 weeks.

When Sunny and I went in for the official ultrasound (meaning Sunny had already ultrasounded herself several times off record), We asked the baby a simple question, "How's everything going in there." Here's the picture of the ultrasound right after the question was posed.

Here is an ultrasound of the baby's nose and mouth. We think she may be wearing a black zoro mask over her head and eyes which is why that part didn't come into focus. Sunny also thinks that the baby has my nose... you'll have to decide for yourselves.

You can see the two bones of her forearm. Those bones have never looked so cute before.

Here is an ultrasound of her foot. If I was a betting man, I would say she has Sunny's feet.

Here is an ultrasound of her spine. It is amazing that everything is so developed so early on in miniature form.

RIM2RIM

The Grand Canyon at Sunrise

Our friends from the valley invited us to join them in hiking the grand canyon from North to South Rim (24.1 miles). It was quite the adventure.
Sunny and I standing at the South rim waiting for the 5 hour shuttle to the North Rim. Sunny wanted to ensure that no UV rays entered her eyes and so she bought the largest pair of sunglasses she could find. You can never be too safe!

Looking over the edge at the daunting task ahead of us!

RIM2RIM

Getting ready to start our journey from the North Kaibab Trailhead at 5:45AM. Sunny and I exchanging a final kiss in case one of us fell off the canyon.

The sunrise coming up over the mountain.

Check out the layers of rock in the cliff walls

RIM2RIM

A Grand View!

The cliffs of despair....

Crossing the Colorado river which means "Color Red"

Sunny navigates a stream to keep the hiking boots from getting wet.

RIM2RIM

Entering Indians Gardens campground.

We finally made it to the South Rim after hours of treacherous switchbacks.

Lot of foreigners at the canyon were there as tourists. This sleepy lady didn't quite get the nike logo right.

The beginning of Fall...

Leaves are changing up here in Pine Country and Flagstaff is getting colorful. We decided to capture a little of that beauty. I call it: Pretty in Pink!

A New Look

Sunny and I were living in separate worlds... Sunny's MySpace....Jacob's Blogger. We finally decided to get on the same page (literally..haha). Hopefully this will mean we can now update the blog twice as often, so stayed tuned for all kinds of exciting, fantastically original html. I know that this speedo picture is going to draw ya'll in and before you know it, you'll be checking in every day. We'll keep 'em coming! Much Love, The Hyatts

More Pics From Our Havasupai Trip

Gardening in Flagstaff

We got an early start on the garden this year. In fact, it was a little too early. We got the garden in mid May thinking that we wouldn't have anymore freezes, and ended up having a few more snow days in June. Crazy huh? Snow in June!!! Anyway, the garden is thriving and we are looking forward to a good harvest of snow peas, cucumbers, tomatoes, basil, zucchini, yellow squash, and strawberries. This year is the first year we have ever done strawberries or basil. Both seem to be doing GREAT! Come see us sometime, and we will share our grand harvest with you all...

Clerkship in Chandler, AZ

Last week, I started my summer clerkship down in the valley at Physicians Physical Therapy Service in Chandler, AZ. The clerkship is going great and my clinical instructor is letting me do a lot! I'm learning a ton and it feels great to finally get to be in the clinic and treat patients. For the next 4 weeks, I am staying with my mom in Mesa, and it has been fun spending time with the family. Especially since David (25), Nicole (19), and Danielle (18) still live at home. The only downside is that Sunny still has to work up in Flagstaff at the hospital, so we are missing each other a ton. We got to see each other this weekend though (hence the pictures) and seeing each other felt like it how it was back when we were dating. What they say is true, "Distance makes the heart grow fonder." At least in our case.

Doesn't Sunny's new hair color look cute. This is the first time I've ever seen her as a brunette. I quite like it!

New Used Car For The Hyatts!

After a long hard 6 month search, Sunny finally found the perfect car for her. She wanted a 4 wheel drive for the winter snows in Flagstaff, but wanted to still get reasonable gas milage. She decided on a Toyota RAV4 because she liked the looks of it better than the comparable Honda CR-V. The RAV4 also gets a little better gas milage (26 mi/gallon freeway driving). Sunny looked and looked for several months but when the RAVs would go on sale, they would be sold in hours. I guess it is a popular choice of mini SUV these days. Anyway, she finally found a 2005 RAV4 that was selling in Albuquerque, NM. We made the 5 hour drive out there to pick up the car, and while we were there, we spent the day at the Zoo and Aquarium. It made for a short but sweet vacation for us. The zoo was amazing, with animals we hadn't seen before such as: Polar bears, koala bears, clipspringers, kangaroos, etc. The aquarium had sharks, stingrays, sea turtles, etc. We had a great time, and the car has been doing great for us so far!

Havasupai (Heaven On Earth)

This past Tues through Sat, Sunny and I went with our friends Brian and Joy Zukowski to the Havasupai in the Grand Canyon. It was everything we hoped for. The water was so blue and we took lots of pictures. Stay tuned for a lot more pictures as soon as I can get them developed and posted. For now, here is a picture of Mooney Falls in all it's majesty!

The Semi Annual Update.

Sunny and I are doing great and enjoying the cool weather this summer in Flagstaff. I'll attempt to catch everybody up on the Hyatt happenings.

Soldier summited the highest peak in AZ last week: Mt. Humphrey. Both him and I need to get back into shape.

My dad took the whole family to the circus this past weekend. The view from the sixth row was great, and the circus was better than it had been in previous years. Oh yeah, Sunny also became a redhead over night. Fun!

The first weekend of June, Flagstaff holds their annual dog show. I entered Soldier in it for fun. It was quite a sight seeing dogs everywhere, and although Soldier didn't win, we had a good time.
