Aspen Colette Hyatt was born on Friday May 15th at 9:15AM at our home in Flagstaff, AZ. (Don't worry...it was planned to happen at home) She weighed 7 lbs 14 oz and was 20.5 inches long. We think she may be the future Christine Dai role in Phantom of the Opera as she has quite a set of lungs on her. I think that going over the due date by 9 days will help her singing career in the future. The labor was quite short and from the time Sunny's water broke to the time Sunny was holding Aspen in her arms was ~45 minutes. The midwives almost missed the birth and were getting ready to walk me through how to deliver the baby. I got to catch Aspen when she came out and then lay her on Sunny's chest. Sunny was amazing and in total control the whole time during the final stages of labor, unlike the way the movies depict birth with the women screaming and crying and swearing at their husbands. I have a whole new respect for her as she now is not only a wife but also a mother. To make a long story short, mom and baby are happy, healthy, and beautiful. We will keep you up to date on Aspen as we help to mold her screaming talent into the next opera diva!

We are so happy for you guys! Little Aspen is so beautiful. I was pleased to see that she is already as stylish as her mom and dad. It sounds like everything went really well and Sunny is one of those amazing moms. I bet the midwives were very impressed.

Congratulations! We are so excited for you! She is just beautiful! I can see little bits of Jacob as a baby (not sure how I remember that but I do!) and since I didn't know Sunny as a baby I see some of her now. And Sunny, you are amazing to have her at home your first time and do so well! (I would be like those movies you mentioned......) Very Impressive! Good luck with those lungs. Poor Seth cried for the first 4 months of life (solid, yes solid) and he has a personality with very deep feelings now....very sensitive and a deep thinker. Passionate. So maybe that is what you have to look forward to. On the other hand....he is still entirely too emotional! We love you guys! Congrats! Love, Jim, Natalie and kids

Congratulations! I am so glad that the birth went well! (That is such a blessing.) She is beautiful! She is a pretty good mix of you guys, but in the first picture she looks like her beautiful Mommy!

She is gorgeous you guys! I started crying when I read your blog and looked at the pictures. Probably a combination of the pregnancy hormones and that I am feeling so blessed to be an aunt to such a sweetheart! You guys did so great!

I realize I haven't looked at your blog for a long time. It is fun to see Sunny in the various stages of "mamahood." What a cute little mama she is! And those pictures of the baby . . . . well lets just say that if I hadn't seen her in person I would never have believed she could be so beautiful! And that's not just because I am the grandma, either!
